Hold you wedding in the wonderful surroundings of this historic Parish Church which dates back to 14th Century. Wedding services can be held on most days between the legally permitted hours including Fridays, Saturday's and Sunday afternoons. Package includes the wedding service in the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin and covers the statuary fees for getting married, and the organist to play music before and during the service. The Church seats up to 250 people although smaller numbers can be accommodated in a side chapel providing a more intimate service for smaller groups. There is plenty of car parking at the church. The Church provides a venue for the wedding service only and there are plenty of nearby venues able and willing to host the reception. We can also put you in touch with local florists and photographers if that would help you. Couples will be invited to meet several times with the vicar to plan their wedding service and the arrangements for the day. There will also be a rehearsal before the wedding service to ensure that the service passes off as smoothly as possible. Payment can be made by cheque, BACS and cash and our invoice needs to be paid two weeks before the wedding date. We do not normally need a deposit to secure the booking. Please note that you will need to comply with legal requirements for getting married in a Church of England church and these connections can be discussed at initial enquiry.

The Tavistock Town Hall acts as a focal point for the town, hosting not just weddings but other local events. We offer two different function rooms, the Main Hall and the Rundle room. The Main Hall offers seating for 190 guests and is fully licensed for live entertainment whilst the Rundle room is a perfect location to hold a civil ceremony with seating for 45 people. An example wedding taking place in the Main Hall would cost for the hall hire itself which would allow access from, 10am to dress the hall and the bar would close at 11pm with the event to finish at 12am. We don't have any in house caterers or DJ's but we do have a list of suggestions on our website. Extra costs such as a per head cost for using the kitchen and for wine corkage would be on top of this. Congratulations on your engagement -- thank you for your interest in the Wild Horse Inn! We are great at meeting budgets and can do any style of service you wish from a formal plated dinner to a casual buffet barbeque. Keep in mind that the price listed is just an average; each event is priced based on your party size. We have a beautiful ceremony site outdoors! It has great mountain views and is very proximal to the reception area. It easily can seat over 200, so can accommodate your group. When you book with us for a weekend wedding, we ask that you reserve the entire Inn for two nights for your guests. We have 7 lodge rooms and 3 cabins, which can accommodate a maximum of 26 people. Breakfast is included each day for those staying on site! The cost to rent the entire place for one night, including tax. Most of our bridal couples don't pay for all of the lodging for their guests, so this cost may not be on your tab completely. At the Inn, you may bring in your own alcohol - a HUGE cost savings to you! We provide the bartenders through the catering company and they set up, service and break down the bar for you. When you book with us, your site fee covers you for the whole weekend. Many brides and grooms plan their rehearsal dinner and/or day after brunch for their guests to be held at the Inn as well; this would also be under the same site fee. The cost for those events would just be the catering and any small rentals you might need. Also when you book with us we give you a list of preferred vendors, including disc jockeys, bands, florists, photographers, etc. We also give you a list of the best additional lodging in the area for overflow. Our space can host up to 250 for a cocktail-type reception, and up to 120-150 for a sit-down dinner. We can seat about 200 for a ceremony. The cost for a wedding in our space is price+ HST plus a refundable damage deposit of $750. The rental includes the use of the upper level for the afternoon for set-up, and the whole building for the evening of the wedding. We also have a kitchen and take a 10% landmark fee on catering, however, we don't have any preferred caterers that we require you to use, and you are welcome to bring in your own non-catered food, subject to a kitchen use fee (cost depends on details of how the kitchen is used - whether just for prep and plating, or for cooking/ heating up food). We would require you to get a Special Occasion Permit to serve alcohol, as well as event insurance which is usually around $250 - please contact palcanada.com for a more precise insurance quote. We require Smart Serve certified bartenders for any events that include alcohol. We can provide staff for a rate of $25/hour, or you are welcome to bring your own servers (please let us know well in advance if you need our servers). We have tables and chairs for use included in the rental, although no linens or tableware, and you are welcome to bring in additional or different chairs and tables. Decoration, set-up and break-down (stacking chairs and folding tables) would be up to you, although we will have a staff person on hand to assist. Please note when planning for decorations that we don't allow nails in any wood elements, or candles (unless they are part of a supervised ceremony and are lit for only a short time). Our Great Hall has a cathedral ceiling with large beams that decorations or lights can be wrapped around, and there are a handful of existing hooks and nails already in the wood that you could use. We have a basic sound system comprised of a mixing board, microphones and two speakers, into which you can plug a laptop or iPod or other player, and we can accommodate additional equipment needed for a band or DJ. We have a computerized coloured light system which is an optional add-on and comes with a technician to run the lighting program. We also have a projection screen, and a podium. One note to keep in mind is that because our venue is within a residential area, we have a noise restriction after 11 pm. Live music would need to end, and any amplified music needs to be turned down after that time so that sound doesn't carry loudly outside the building, although it does not mean that the reception has to shut down. Also, a final note, because this is an older building it is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The Great Hall is up a short flight of stairs, and the washrooms are on the lower level.
