A popular wedding destination for every type of couple, Phuket offers beaches, private villas, even a traditional Buddhist temple, with professional service and planners to help create the perfect wedding of any couple’s dreams.
All legal procedures for getting married in Phuket are done in the couple’s country’s embassy in Thailand. To start, they must have obtained their visas from their home states, along with a Letter of Intent, and should have booked an appointment with the Thailand embassy at least a week before the wedding.
The couple must take the originals, as well as photocopies, of the following documents:
Passport Government-issued ID Entry visa Birth certificate Evidence of previous marriage such as a Death or Divorce certificate. At the representative embassy in Thailand, the couples will fill an Affirmation of Eligibility to Marry form, which they will submit with a certain fee (in Thai currency).
The affidavit and other documents will then have to be translated. As the embassy does not offer translation services, the couple will have to get official translators in Bangkok. These translators can be found using the Internet.

After acquisition of the translated copies, the couple will proceed to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Legalization Division to certify the affidavit and the translated version.
After all the documents have been verified and certified as legal, the couple will go to the Phuket District Office to receive a marriage certificate. Once they are given the certificate (and they translate it), they are officially married in Phuket, and in any other place in the world. The entire process take just under a week, from start to finish, and one can get someone else to carry out the process for them (for a fee, and once all the necessary documents are available).

After acquiring the marriage certificate, the couple can hold the wedding ceremony of their choice, be it Christian or traditional Thai. Hotels and resorts in Phuket offer great wedding packages to couples, and, once the ceremony is over, there is no need to travel out to a honeymoon location: you are already there.
Hi Kally,
Thanks for sharing! Such a cool concept, I wish I had done this for my destination wedding in Tahiti. When you planned your wedding in Phuket, did you use any sort of seating plan software? I found this one to be very helpful. http://www.allseated.com/vendors...
Thanks for the insight--it looks it's really quite simple! I really wish I had done this.
Best,
Susan
