How do you say no to someone who wants to be your bridesmaid?
It's many girls' dream to walk down the aisle to an unknown face right at the end. You probably planned all your details from the music, the decor and right down to the dream wedding gown fitted seamlessly like a glove. Given that, you also likely to already have a list of bridesmaids in your life that you are committed to way before he kneel on one bended knee. That list may or may not have bridesmaid added in and deleted away over the years, but pretty sure it have at least one or two core people in your life. You may already asked those who are on your list or you and your other half has fixed the number on your entourage.
So it does get annoying when someone openly asked you if they can be your bridesmaid when you announced your wedding date. Especially if the someone is not at all close to you. What can you do?
Be Polite and Firm
That is the honest way to go. I'm pretty sure most people will understand if you turn them down because being your bridesmaid is a personal affair.
Tell them you have drawn up your list
Explain to her that you and your significant other have discussed and pinpointed that each of you get only 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen; and you have already extended your invitation to your list.
Tell them you're keeping it within the family
If your bridesmaids made up of sisters, cousins and nieces, it is easy to get away with this one by proclaiming that you are only getting your family involved in the works of the wedding and your friend should enjoy herself as a guest at your event.
A Tiny Affair
Explain to your friend that you are having a small wedding and you are only having one bridesmaid.....and the bridesmaid is expected to do everything on her own. This is enough to scare anyone, trust me.
