The base is custom sculpted for this piece. The hand painted bottom tier represents the traditional hand drums. The middle tier has been hand painted, then piped with flowers inspired by traditional floral bead patterns in royal icing, to mimic the Groom's deer skin jacket. The separators mimic the ballooning in the Bride's dress. The top tier is hand piped in Royal icing to represent porcupine quill embroidery in the colours of the medicine wheel. The two icing hearts at the open door of the teepee represents their joining as one family, and the eagle feathers represent strength.
