Mastoris Mansion Hydra / Αρχοντικό του Μάστορη Ύδρα
Our guesthouse is just 90m from the port. It was originally built back in 1750 and we rebuild it with an industrial – traditional character. Started out as a bakery for galettes (Hydra was and is a known commercial harbor, ships, fishing and sponge boats would buy food supplies for their long journeys). The walls are the original stone walls with the chestnut wood pieces in between (traditional architecture of the time f.e. to protect from earthquakes) and the ground floor ceilings still have the original chestnut beams and softwood planks. My husband’s grandfather was a well known construction builder and his nickname was “Mastoris”. He has been, and still is, our inspiration in every step of our project.
We offer a sunny veranda where you can enjoy your breakfast or evening drink and a living – breakfast room when the days are a bit more chilly.
