Thereafter drive to the east to the Arusha National Park. Small by size but among the places in the world it is the closest national park to both the famous Arusha city alias the Geneva of Africa (30 km) as well as the Kilimanjaro International Airport, thus making it ideal for 1-day tours. Arusha national park is not only green all year round, but it is one of the most beautiful and topographically varied parks in Tanzania. The park’s three most significant features include the rugged Mount Meru (Tanzania’s second-highest peak at 4,566m), the notably different colored Momella Lakes, and the 3 km wide Ngurdoto Crater, which was naturally formed about fifteen million years ago! You will have a hot lunch at the picnic lunch at the shores of the Momella Lakes will remain in your memory for years with images of the Flamingos and the fabulous views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro mountain. After lunch, continue with a game to the Ngurdoto Crater. Expected wildlife to be seen in the areas includes African buffalo, elephants, hippos, giraffe, warthogs, antelopes, zebras, blue monkeys and sometimes if lucky, you can see leopard and hyena. Late afternoon drive back to the African tulip Hotel for overnight. Dinner and breakfast is included Day 3-4: Arusha – Tarangire National Park We will collect you from your hotel after breakfast in Arusha and following a 2-3 hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds. Today, however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking. If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Masai Ostrich -the world’s largest bird. Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken to Tarangire Sopa Lodge for overnight. Dinner, breakfast, lunch Day 5: Tarangire National park – Lake Natron After breakfast, you will leave the area around Tarangire National Park and head to the multicultural village of Mto wa Mbu. From here you will travel on a spectacular and very bumpy gravel road along the Rift Valley Escarpment with Ol Doinyo Lengai “the holy mountain” of the Masai in the distance. Today’s destination is the typical Masai village of Ngare Sero in the hot and dusty. Dinner and overnight at Lake-Natron-Tented-Camp. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the language of the Masai and you will see the grassland savannah stretching to the horizon. The Serengeti is the most famous park in Tanzania and it is home to the largest animal migration on the planet – hundreds of thousands of animals trek to find fresh grass and water. The wildlife in the crater is just breath-taking and with a little luck, you might see the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. You should also see warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an entire morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch in the crater, you will travel to Lake Manyara escarpment where you will overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.
