Prepare for Your Destination Wedding Photography
The best destination wedding pictures are often times taken after a lot of planning and fore thought that goes into every detail. Each detail of the day is essential; the clothes, the flavors, and the people. Whereas spontaneity is the key thing to capturing the emotions of the day, there are some preparations you can make to ensure your photographer gets the best shot. Preparations for your destination wedding photography start before packing the bags.
The location of the wedding also does influence the kind of pictures you have taken on your big day. Consider your hotel room which can have some wonderful backdrop for lovely pictures. Also, consider the space and the lighting in the room. Natural lighting works wonders on the pictures you will get taken during your getting ready photos. The atmosphere always gives the pictures a wonderful finish, with family and bridesmaid taking photos with you makes it rather calming and special.
Here are four things to do to ensure you get the best shots.
Consider packing the details
Remember to carry with you one of your invitations and other details you would like captured by your photographer. Every aspect of the wedding offers very beautiful and memorable pictures. When you are handing out welcome bags for your guests, ensure you keep an extra one for your photographer to take a picture of. The groom’s gift and bridesmaid gift are some details to also bear in mind.
Coordinate your travel plans with your photographer
If you opt to hire a destination wedding photographer, ensure you get confirmation of when they plan to travel to your wedding spot. Last minute travel plans are risky and should be avoided due to unforeseeable delays or cancellations. If your wedding photographer is based in your wedding destination, make sure to coordinate the time with them, your makeup and hair stylist, parents and bridal party to make sure everyone is in your room for when your photographer arrives to capture the wedding preparation moments.
Make plans for trash the dress photo shoots
If trash-the-dress photo shoot is part of your destination wedding photography package, organize the time and place before hand with your photographer. When the photography is planned the day after the wedding ceremony, consider whether to hire your makeup and hair stylist or you can do it yourself. Decide on whether to buy a second gown or wear your wedding dress. If your photographer is not a local, find out whether they know of the local hot spots. When they are not familiar with the area, ask them if they can explore the location in advance or get some location suggestions from your wedding planner or the hotel coordinator.
Plan for the group shot
Destination weddings are intimate by nature and a group shot with your guests is a wonderful way to involve everyone who came to be part of your special day. Make sure to tell your photographer in advance if you want a group shot as it may not have been in their plans for the photo session.
