Coastal Engagements’ (favorite) Wedding Story
I met Jannike at a Networking Luncheon. She mentioned that she was getting married and we decided to set up a consultation. I didn't go into the meeting with all of these big ideas for her wedding, I went in to listen. I didn't know Jannike. I hadn't met her fiancee Kyle and I didn't know their style. She and I immediately had a connection.
Jannike was the most adorable bride. She is a very visual person and it was hard for her to understand how everything she wanted, would come together. During the year of planning, I assured Jannike that I knew her vision and that everything was going to be perfect.
The couple chose a beautiful rustic barn located near a farm. Everything would need to brought in to the location and set up from scratch. She was skeptical because she just couldn't grasp how it would all come together.
Glamorous! Rustic! Elegant! Fun! Sparkly! Pink! With the assistance of amazing vendors, we NAILED IT! Every aspect of their wedding reflected their personalities. It was perfection!
It was everything and more than she had hoped for. Jannike and I formed a friendship throughout the planning process. It was truly humbling to see her so full of joy on her wedding day. She was a Princess!
Jannike and Kyle chose to travel cross country visiting several states along the way and just enjoying a variety activities during their honeymoon. It was cut short by a very tragic ATV accident. Jannike broke her back. She was hospitalized and had to undergo surgery. She and Kyle spent the remainder of their honeymoon as well as an extended period of time in the hospital away from their home state. She had a very long recovery and I am happy to report that she is still doing well.
Of course I was devastated when I heard the news. It absolutely broke my heart. It was such a reminder to me of how short life is. That accident could have been fatal for Jannike. I feel so blessed and so grateful that I shared such a special part of their lives. My job as a wedding planner is truly rewarding. After all, this is typically the most important decision that they will ever make and I get to be there for it. It's not just a job for me. It's hard to explain when you find your purpose in life. I feel that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. I am making friends and bringing joy to families!
