Cocktail/Dinner Hour: A contemporary twist on the traditional jazz cocktail set. In addition to the traditional repertoire, Joe plays and sings the classic and contemporary songs of the last fifty years. Hits by the likes of Elton John, Billy Joel, Van Morrison, Michael Buble, James Taylor, Dave Mathews, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc. Reception: Don't be hesitant when asking this musician to do the DJ and MC portion of the evening. Joe is at heart, just a fan of music. He has a massive collection of wedding music and loves to get the crowd dancing. Years of performing has provided Joe a comfort level behind the microphone that only experience of that sort can achieve. His MC style is very easy going, precise, and effective but never overbearing.

The standard configuration is a 6-piece show band (Al Paris - male lead vocalist, 1 female lead vocalist / dancer, drums, bass, guitar & keys – all members sing back-up and harmony). The band Rowan will provide live Celtic and Traditional folk background music for the wedding reception. Rowan will provide the sound system and 1.5 hours of music. Rowan will also provide audio equipment for the use of announcements during this period. Contract and deposit required.

The band Rowan will provide music and sound system for the wedding ceremony; approx. 30-45 minutes. Music may include vocals and the following instruments: Celtic harp, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin, and banjo. A contract is required with deposit. We also have classical flute, and/or guitar, or a variety of other options for your ceremony. Prices for these are $600 for the first musician and $400 for any additional musicians. If you would like live jazz for your cocktail/dinner sets, I often send out a three-piece with stand-up bass, guitar or keyboard and saxophone. They play up to 2 hours for an additional but if you're on a budget, we can do this part with a duo or soloist. If there is no budget for this aspect all, you can always use our PA to play iPod music for no extra charge, (providing our sound system is in earshot of these locations). No Band on the South Coast will provide the same quality sound system as AREA 51! WHY DOES THIS MATTER? It doesn’t matter how well your musicians are playing if it doesn’t sound good. To the untrained ear, this will simply mean that your event won’t “feel” good. Cheap, old, underpowered systems often sound “muddy”, or “dark”. Most bands just turn it up to compensate for this and tend to play too loud. Area 51’s sound system sounds full, clean and bright which allows our audiences to hear how great the music is which results in feelings of joy and satisfaction, and it looks good too!
