Mt Barney Wilderness Retreat is 120 hectares of forest and hills, set high in the McPherson mountain ranges. It is 110 kilometres south west of Brisbane and can be reached by a series of four-wheel drive tracks taking you right into the heart of the World Heritage listed wilderness area.

Situated at approximately 730 m above sea level, it is bounded by areas of wild and natural
beauty, adjoining rainforests, eucalyptus forests and heath land.

On the high ridges overlooking the Retreat there are ancient Antarctic Beech forests. To the east
the retreat is dominated by the presence Mt Barney, to the south the rolling peaks and ridges of
the western edge of the Focal Peak volcano caldera covered in Gondwana rainforest.

Our Vision and Mission: to help our clients to experience and comprehend the richness and
subtlety of an authentic World Heritage listed wilderness so we have developed an authentic and basic bush retreat: camp fires, camping out under the stars, bush walks. Our facilities are simple, functional and sustainable to integrate into this remarkable landscape.
